Most Beautiful German Books

Most Beautiful German Books

We are thrilled and honored to see books produced by Livonia Print recognized for their beauty and uniqueness. Three books printed at Livonia Print have been selected as contenders in "The Most Beautiful German Books 2024” award by Die Stiftung Buchkunst, in the "Children’s and Young Adult Books" category. In five different categories, only five books were chosen for this title, and in the "Children’s and Young Adult Books" category, three of them were printed by Livonia Print.

The jury not only evaluates the concept and design of the books but also pays close attention to their technical execution—considering the quality of binding, reproduction, and printing—seeking books that embody both beauty and innovation.

Here are our three stars:

Geniale Ohren by Lena Anlauf and Vitali Konstantinov (Publisher: Nord Süd Verlag AG): This book was praised for its striking endpapers, as well as the earthy tones of the illustrations creating a soft, pastel-like color scheme, as if bathed in gentle light.

Another work we're proud to see on this list is Die Graue Stadt by Torben Kuhlmann (Publisher: NordSüd Verlag). The jury was captivated by the book’s use of gray tones, which manage to complement the narrative, drawing the reader in from cover to cover.

Lastly, we’re delighted that Wolf by Saša Stanišić, illustrated by Regina Kehn (Publisher: Carlsen Verlag), was recognized for both its concept and technical excellence. The jury was particularly impressed by the book’s readability despite its unconventional size, and the striking bursts of yellow that contrast well with the black and white.
