Further to Livonia Print letter from March 17, we would like to inform you about the situation in Latvia and Livonia Print as of today.
The latest figure of infected people in Latvia – 180. Mostly it is connected with repatriation of our citizens from abroad – there are thousands of people who have been brought home from all over Europe, USA , Asia and they will continue returning also this week. That means there can be further increase in the number of infected and all the society has to try to avoid meeting those coming back home at least for two weeks. There are new regulations in shops – keeping distances, disinfecting hands etc.
Our schools have started working on-line after last week’s holidays.
Our project managers and other office people continue working from home as much as possible, but there is always somebody in the office to receive parcels with sample books etc.
We would appreciate if those customers, who order plotter printouts could change over to digital plotters to economize time and get less people involved managing the sheets and parcels.
We have received information that Garda paper mill will be closed till further notice, but as Garda papers are not on our house paper list, we have other alternatives to offer.
Please be noted that some of cloth materials are affected (e.g. Savanna) as Manifattura del Seveso in Italy is on stop for two weeks. Cover materials affected: Cialux, Setalux, Africa, Canapetta Extra, Cialinen, Buckram P Extra, Assuan, Tasmania, Paradise. As these are special materials, we hope we can always find some alternatives from standard stock.
The situation on the Polish/German border has improved although there is still some waiting time, but hours, not days as last week.
As borders are now closed for Poland and Lithuania and there are no flights into Latvia, we understand that if there are any technical problems with our equipment, we will face challenges getting help from our equipment manufacturers, like Heidelberg or Muller Martini.
We hope it does not happen and our technical team can cope with whatever comes!
We would appreciate, if you send us information on delayed pick-up of EXW books (if you organize transport yourself) as we have no storage space in our export warehouse and we produce according to the planned export date.
We are still optimistic, working full speed and hope that people all over the world learn how to manage the new situation!
Have a good working week, do not loose your spirits and you are always welcome to ask questions!
